Column for Progressive ChoicesEach of us has our own individual needs when it comes to dressing. Regardless of what we do with our time. Your closet should house your wardrobe for the current season and for all aspects of your life. Your wardrobe is your own selection of clothing that should do the following:
In my experience the most challenging wardrobe is one for an individual who works at home or in a uniform. Very often this individual wardrobe dosen’t have a component for more formal meetings or for events and occasions outside of their work and home space. The difficulties begin when something comes up, they are forced to run to shop and buy quickly without a plan. Some of us work in greens (hospitals), construction etc. Our off time clothing is wash and wear comfortable and usually not more than a body cover for travel to and form work. However, where the complication arises is when a business meeting gets scheduled or there is another occasion. The greens or jeans and t-shirts don’t work in an office tower or at the theater. Yet it seems wasteful to have a whole other wardrobe for occasional use. The solution – a smartly casual wardrobe that includes a softy tailored aspect that can dress up or down without forfeiting comfort or the easy care parameters. Eight pieces of clothing selected carefully can be co-ordinated to create twenty-four changes or more. For individuals who wear uniforms or work in “at home” wear a capsule of clothing that co-ordinates and is accessorized, prepares you for all occasions. The same approach works for any individual. What the wardrobe items are depends on your individual parameter. Ask yourself: What colours do I look good in? Build your capsule with colours that you look good in and like. What bottoms would serve me in my lifestyle? Select from pants, long or short skirt options. Match a top to each bottom you decide on. Add two jacket tops that can be as tailored as you feel you require. Accessories can include appropriate dress shoes, hose and a presentable bag. Optional are a couple of scarves for texture and creative colour mixes, a broach or two, earrings necklaces and belts. This capsule will dress up for the required occasions and give a foundation for future wardrobe building if you wish. In the meantime, you will be properly prepared for any occasion that arises. |
